Education Enhancement
Train and mentor volunteer tutors to assist classroom teachers in FC#4.

Build a model for administering such a volunteer tutor program that can be replicated at other schools.

Through the volunteer tutoring program provide opportunities for high school and college students to gain hands on experience working with students and “try out” a career in education.

 

School Buildings
Continue to assist with the elementary and kindergarten facilities in Ferrocarril #4.

Build or renovate classrooms in other underserved communities where parent interest is strong.

Teacher Training
Provide teachers educational enrichment and networking opportunities with others interested in exploring new teaching techniques. 

Provide a model constructivist kindergarten for others to observe.

Encourage science enrichment by providing training in pre-tested curricula for hands-on science experiments that can be done with students.

 

Parent Training and Support

Provide training and counseling to parents to help them raise their children in a way that reduces family stress and models and promotes healthy behavior.  Effective parenting at home facilitates confident participation in school and provides a positive role model for successfully negotiating adult life.

Health Improvement
Seek ways to support health professionals in bringing care and preventative education to the communities, so that children can see healthy role models, stay healthy themselves, and participate fully in school.

 

Developing Successful Programs to Share

Integrating ideas from both sides of the border, working to find common solutions, and building and testing models to see what works.  Sharing successful models with other interested groups/officials.
